No matter how well you maintain your appliances, they will eventually require replacement. It helps to buy appliances that will last so you may get the most use out of them—and avoid the inevitable expiration date. Incorporating reliability into your decision will save you money in the long run and keep refrigerators, washers, and other similar devices out of landfills.
However, it’s worth noting that a few safeguards were put in place to ensure that the system was reliable and fair. To account for differences in types of appliances, the Average Predicted Reliability Score for each brand has been adjusted.
We ask members how many times their appliances have broken or ceased operating properly to determine expected reliability. We use this information to forecast how well new models from a particular brand will perform in the first five years of use.
The aggregate of ratings for all types of that brand’s appliances is used to estimate expected reliability ratings (for example, front-loaders, top-loaders, etc., for washing machines).
This year’s rankings include a few new brands that aren’t necessarily new. Cafe and Monogram make their debuts as a result of the fact that we now have a large enough sample for each in our member poll to separate them from parent company GE. Similarly, LG and Signature. Roper and Crosley are separate brands that are owned by enough of our members to be listed.
- LG: LG improved one position to third place with a total score of 66. Gas and electric dryers obtained an exceptional rating, while small dryers obtained a very high grade in the appliance category. Electric wall ovens were also given high marks. The brand received high marks across the board, with the lowest grade being good.
- Roper: With a total score of 64, Roper improved by a whopping 12 positions. Roper received excellent marks on top-load agitator washing machines, excellent marks on electric dryers, and good marks on gas dryers. Don’t overlook the laundry blunders you didn’t realize you were committing.
- Bosch: Bosch is down five positions and tied for tenth place with 58 points. Bosch scored an acceptable overall rating for refrigerators and largely decent scores across the board, while the brand scored an excellent grade for dishwashers. Bosch achieved an exceptional grade for gas cooktops and a decent grade for electric cooktops in the cooktop category. These 12 appliances might help you save up to $20 every day.
You can choose any of the brands to get the most out of your appliances.
